We're off!

After two months in the Netherlands, we're finally ready to move on to Spain. The journey will be a long one, consisting of 2 bus trips and 2 train trips. One of the train legs will be an overnight train from Paris to Valladolid, which is about 3 hours northwest of Madrid. We'll arrive there at about 6:30 am and be greeted by 35 degrees C (95 degrees F)...at least that's what the forecast says...yikes!

The hardest part about preparing for all of this has been deciding what to bring with us since we could possibly be there for 6 months or longer and our activities will range from hiking and camping in the mountains of the north to toiling on the dry, soils of the south to eating out in a fancy restaurant with Spanish business men and women. We managed to stuff it all into two heavy backpacks and two heavy daypacks.
